Clayton Hotwell
The Hotwell performs several essential functions:
- Acts as a reservoir for returned condensate.
- Blends water treatment chemicals.
- Maintains a controlled temperature of around 90 to 95 deg C. With a residence time calculated to remove nearly all dissolved oxygen.
Clayton Hotwells can be supplied with:
- Special inducer tubes
- Temperature control
- Automatic level control
- Automatic filling
For large steam flows, high pressure steam or superheated steam systems, we may also recommend the Clayton Thermal Deaerator.
Clayton Hotwell
The Hotwell performs several essential functions:
- Acts as a reservoir for returned condensate - an ideal way to blend water treatment chemicals.
- Removes most of the oxygen from the feedwater - a major cause of corrosion.
- Maintains a controlled temperature of around 90 to 95OC. The residence time is calculated to significantly reduce the oxygen level.
Clayton Hotwells are supplies with:

- Temperature control
- Automatic level control
- Automatic filling
For large steam flows, high pressure steam or superheated steam systems, we may also recommend the Clayton Thermal Deaerator.

Clayton Chemical Dosing Systems
Incorporates a chemical storage tank, sized for the Clayton Steam System and a micro-processor controlled diaphragm chemical injection pump to accurately meter the amount of chemical used.
- Maintains the correct water quality - a requirement of all types of steam raising plant.
- Helps extend the life of your equipment by ensuring that your Clayton Steam Generator is protected at all times.
Clayton Water Softeners
Automatic ion-exchange type water softeners that remove hardness from raw feedwater and prevent scale formation.
- Twin softeners are fitted with a micro-processor and water flow measurement which allows regeneration to take place in proportion to water usage.
Clayton Water Test Kits
Provides a simple and practical way of measuring the quality of the feedwater supply to the Clayton Steam Generator.
- Includes all the equipment you need to carry out tests for water hardness, levels of oxygen scavenger, dissolved solids and pH.
Full instructions for use are included with the kit and a Clayton Feedwater Treatment Manual is available with information on required water quality and how to achieve it.
Clayton Booster Pumps
Ensure the minimum net positive suction head is maintained for the main Clayton Pump where the hotwell is mounted at low level.
Booster pumps are selected to suit the generator supplied.
Clayton Blowdown Vessels
Designed to safely handle the discharges from the automatic or manual blowdown systems on the Clayton Steam Generator.
We can also supply blowdown vessels with discharge cooling systems, if required.
Clayton Water Treatment Chemicals
Specially formulated to maintain the correct water conditions to protect the Clayton Steam Generating System.
- Guarantees problem free operation and extends the life of your equipment.
Chemicals are available in powder or liquid form and are easily dosed using the Clayton Chemical Dosing Systems.
